Transportation in and out of Phú Quốc

Getting to Phú Quốc

International Arrivals

  • By air: Phú Quốc International Airport (PQC) has direct connections to several Asian cities such as Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Guangzhou. Seasonal charter flights also operate from select European cities.

  • By sea: Cruise ships occasionally dock at Phú Quốc, though flights remain the most common arrival method.

Travelers arriving directly from abroad to Phú Quốc can use the 30-day Phú Quốc visa exemption, provided they meet its requirements (direct entry, onward ticket, passport validity, stay within the island).

From Mainland Việt Nam

  • By air: Frequent domestic flights link Phú Quốc with Hà Nội, Hồ Chí Minh City, Đà Nẵng, Hải Phòng, and other hubs. Travel time ranges from 1 to 2 hours.

  • By sea: Fast ferries connect Hà Tiên (1h15–3h depending on boat type) and Rạch Giá (2h30–3h15) with Phú Quốc.

Visa note: If you arrive in mainland Việt Nam first, you must clear immigration there. This means you need to have the proper Việt Nam visa or visa-free eligibility before continuing on to Phú Quốc. The 30-day exemption only applies when entering directly to the island from abroad.
