Phú Quốc Visa and Regulations (Updated Sep 2025)

Phú Quốc has a unique 30-day visa exemption that applies to all nationalities. This allows travelers to stay on the island without a visa, but only if they meet the requirements.

Phú Quốc Exemption Policy

Direct entry: You must arrive directly to Phú Quốc via international airport or seaport. If you land in another Vietnamese city and pass through immigration, the exemption no longer applies.

Length of stay: Your stay must not exceed 30 days.

Scope: The exemption applies to Phú Quốc Island only. You cannot travel to mainland Việt Nam under this exemption.

Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.

Onward ticket: You need to present a confirmed onward or return ticket showing you will leave Phú Quốc within 30 days.

Visa-Free Access to Việt Nam

Travelers from these countries can enter both mainland Việt Nam and Phú Quốc visa-free.

  • 90-Day Visa-Free: Chile, Panama

  • 45-Day Visa-Free: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

All other countries and territories in the world not listed above are covered only by the Phú Quốc 30-day exemption. That means travelers from these places can stay in Phú Quốc visa-free for 30 days, provided they meet the exemption conditions. If they wish to travel onward to mainland Việt Nam, they will need to apply for an e-visa or appropriate visa in advance.
