Serving as the island’s main aerial gateway, Phú Quốc International Airport (PQC) connects Phú Quốc to major domestic and international destinations. It is currently undergoing a major expansion (starting in 2025) to handle increasing tourist traffic and future long-haul flights.

History

Construction began in November 2008, and the airport opened on 2 December 2012, replacing the older facility. Since then, it has been upgraded in phases, and the 2025 expansion is intended to boost capacity, upgrade terminals, and support direct international routes.

Feature

The airport includes a 3,000 m × 45 m runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft, and a spacious terminal with separate zones for domestic and international arrivals. Its architectural design features open-air elements and local accents suited to the island’s tropical setting.

Transportation

VinBus: Electric buses operate between the airport and major hubs like Dương Đông and Grand World; travelers can ride for free following the VinBus routes. Current routes to the airport are bus no. 17 and no. 19.

Shuttle buses & resort transfers: Many hotels and resorts provide paid shuttle or private transport options from the airport.

Taxis / Ride-hailing: Available 24/7 in front of the terminal; drivers pay the airport parking surcharge which is typically passed on to the passenger.

Nearby Attractions

Tranh Waterfall: A verdant cascade nestled in forested hills, reachable within a short drive of the airport.

Tiên Sơn Mount: Elevated terrain offering sweeping views over the island’s southern coast and sea expanses.
