A Quick Prologue
To be honest, I don’t know how to start this post.
Not sure if I should say “hello there” to you or write a formal full-on introduction about myself and this blog site. Neither feels right to me. So I’m gonna write down all my intrusive thoughts at this very moment and pray that they stick.
In short, I go by bàbu and I strive to be an author. I’m a complete newbie in this field so I have a lot running through my mind and absolutely no idea how to organize it all and make it work.
This site was created a year ago with a few beta versions because I kept posting and deleting content over and over. It has gotten to the point where my girlfriend is now ad-libbing like DJ Khaled:
- Another one!?!
Procrastination is probably my archenemy.
But not anymore.
Because, tonight, we steal THE MOON!
(Sorry, I can’t help but insert this.)
I initially started this site as a travel guide for Phú Quốc island that also featured writings about the heritage and culture of Việt Nam. That didn’t work at all. I had the motivation and put all my effort into PLANNING, but got stuck when it was time to WRITE.
So I scrapped everything and decided to pick up my pen and paper (keyboard and Gdoc, actually!). And you know what? Just like the saying “All roads lead to Rome”, all my inspiration leads to procrastination, once again.
On May 20th, 2026, I started a blog post for my very first series, Stranded in Phú Quốc, Intentionally, and wrote 165 words that I didn’t like at all. It is still sitting in my drafts, pending.
My weakness is a bad start. When I’m not satisfied with the start, I don’t bother continuing anymore. If my life’s a game and I’m a final boss NPC, you can just cast the “Bad Start” spell and it’s a super-effective “EMOTIONAL DAMAGE” (I wish I could insert an audio of Steven He’s voice right here).
Anyways, as I’m writing these notes, I feel happy. Weirdly, I can untangle all the strings in my head as words come out. The urge for“extensive planning for a perfect article” has lessened in a way that I have never felt before.
I will write whatever I want and work from there.
So, if you have read this far and happen to be intrigued by me, expect the randomness of my upcoming posts because I already have a few things I want to introduce to you from Việt culture:
“Ở Trọ” by Trịnh Công Sơn, one of my favorite songs of all time.
A day at Vịnh Sao Biển, a restaurant that I have been gatekeeping for a while in Phú Quốc.
The hero Nguyễn Trung Trực and the festival dedicated to him.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and I hope you are entertained.
Cheers,
bàbu
